How to Use Microsoft Word for FREE Online – No Subscription Needed!

Did you know that you can use Microsoft Word completely free—without downloading anything or signing up for a subscription?

In this step-by-step tutorial, I’ll show you how to access Word Online, start creating documents, and take advantage of other free Microsoft 365 apps right in your browser. Whether you're a student, job seeker, or professional on a budget, this is an easy way to stay productive at no cost. Be sure and checkout the video here.

Step 1: Go to Word Online

Open your browser and go to:
👉 word.cloud.microsoft

You’ll land on a page with featured templates like résumés, letters, invoices, and meeting notes.

Step 2: Sign In or Create a Free Microsoft Account

Click “Sign In” in the top right corner.
If you don’t have a Microsoft account, click “Create one” and sign up using your email address.
Once signed in, you’ll have access to all the Word Online features and templates.

Step 3: Create or Edit a Document

After signing in, you can:

  • Open a blank document to start fresh

  • Choose from pre-made templates

  • Access and edit any documents you’ve already created

Everything is saved to your OneDrive, so you don’t need to worry about losing your work.

Step 4: Share Your Document

To share your document with someone:

  1. Click the “Share” button in the top right

  2. Choose your sharing options (view or edit access)

  3. Copy the link and send it via email or messaging

✅ Tip: You can share documents with people even if they don’t have Microsoft Word installed.
